The Clarence Brown Theatre auctioned several stained glass works of art created by Susan Watson to raise funds to support the theatre program throughout its 2010-2011 season.

Watson said she is honored to be a part of this exciting project. "I get great joy from sharing my glass talent to help raise funds for the performing arts here in Knoxville. For me, it's all about being creative and sharing the gifts that we have with others."

Proceeds from the sales of the eight pieces will help the CBT to continue to provide the high level of quality theater the community has come to expect.

The winners will be contacted the day after the production closes. After contacted, each winner can pay for and pick up their stained glass artwork at the Box Office during hours of operation. Monday through Friday from Noon until 5 p.m.; Closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Artist

Susan WatsonAfter 20 years as Dollywood's resident Stained Glass Mastercraftsman, Watson now appears at the park as a Special Guest Artist where she demonstrates glass cutting and soldering skills to visitors. Watson also leads workshops at the Knoxville Museum of Art and the Knoxville Arts and Fine Crafts Center. Many years ago the artist began to create and donate church windows in Mexico, Africa, Belize and Guatemala.

"Working with Julie Summers and others at CBT has been a great collaboration." Watson said. "The challenge for me is taking Julie's wonderful artwork and transferring it into a glass work of art. I am using overlay and engraving techniques to give each piece a special touch."
