Mr. Diamond is Head of Acting.  Mr. Diamond came to UT in 2005.  Prior to 2005, Mr. Diamond lived and worked in New York City as a teacher and actor for 18 years. He received his MFA in Acting in 1989 from the prestigious NYU/Tisch Graduate Acting Program.  He is a certified teacher of the The Alexander Technique.  He has taught at The Actors Center, NYU, The Stella Adler Conservatory, The New York Shakespeare Festival, etc. He has acted at The Roundabout Theatre, Signature Theatre, Arena Stage, with The Acting Company, and in many other venues.  At the Clarence Brown Theatre at The University of Tennessee, Mr. Diamond has performed in All the Way Home by Tad Mosel, Born Yesterday by Garson Kanin, The Life of Galileo, by Bertolt Brecht, A Flea in Her Ear, by Georges Feydeaux, as Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, A Streetcar named Desire, Oedipus the King, and Woyzeck.

Since his arrival at UT in January of 2005, Mr. Diamond has greatly enjoyed contributing to a renaissance in the Department of Theatre.  Under his leadership the MFA in Acting program and the acting area of the BA in Theatre have undergone significant restructuring and improvement.  MFA graduates of the class of 2006 and 2008 are working in New York, Los Angeles, and points between.  He encourages all prospective MFA and BA students to carefully consider the excellent theatre programs at UT.   Take the time to review our publicity materials, to request a brochure, and/or to visit.  For MFA actors, we offer a clear, consistent, rigorous, and profound training, which provides powerful foundations for a lifetime of work in the art of acting.   In the BA program we provide a well-rounded liberal arts degree, with opportunities to create a more specialized focus in performance or design, to prepare students for the workplace or more advanced study.
